Freehand-like vector drawing tool? - what4 - 10-10-2013 Is there a vector drawing program that runs on current Macs and has the old Freehand method of changing a line by dragging and bending it, rather than by manipulating Bezier points? Or even one that runs on Windows? Re: Freehand-like vector drawing tool? - DewGuy - 10-11-2013 I think Inscape will do that on a number of platforms including Mac and Windows. Re: Freehand-like vector drawing tool? - what4 - 10-13-2013 Thanks for that suggestion. But if Inkscape edits curves, I don't see it. What I see it do is convert a fairly short smooth curve into perhaps 30 different points, each of which can be dragged. While this is not Bezier, it is way different from how Freehand edited curves, which was like reshaping the curve a garden hose makes on your lawn by bending one part of it with your foot. Re: Freehand-like vector drawing tool? - DewGuy - 10-13-2013 Maybe I'm not correctly understanding what this says, but, take a look at the section titled "Editing paths" on this page of the Tutorial. Re: Freehand-like vector drawing tool? - what4 - 10-18-2013 Thanks DewGuy, but as I try Inkscape using the Tutorial you pointed out, it remains complicated to edit paths, and the points tend to turn into Bezier curves with handles. In my method of working, Bezier editing requires a different mind than the one that draws the curves, and the Illustrator-like analytical approach doesn't work well for me. So I'm still looking for an art-oriented Freehand-like vector-curves editor, not an instrument for technical drawing. Why, oh, why did Adobe buy Freehand, then let it die? Oh, why? Have you considered running Freehand using one of the various forms of emulation on your current Mac? |
