Skype keeps crashing - space-time - 11-17-2013
dad complained Skype does not work anymore. I logged in (via log me in). Check hard drive, repaired permissions, downloaded the latest version of Skype. he is running 10.6.1 on a Dell mini 10 (cannot updated past 10.6.1, at least not while he is thousands miles way, last time he bricked it).
My guess is that he has an older version running fine and Skype updated and something does not work now. I plan to aski him to plug in the USB Time Machine hard drive and restore Skype to an earlier version which worked several months ago. Until then maybe someone has an idea how to get a recent version of Skype running.

my mom has the same issue with her 6yo iMac running 10.6.8.
I ended up clearing out all of Skype with AppCleaner,restart, downgrading her Skype version, and un-checking auto update as well.

yes, thanks. Dad arrived home, called him (on Skype on his Kindle), told him to plug in the USB Time Machine backup drive, delted new version or Skype and restore an old Version from July, and that works fine. I made sure that I disable the auto-update feature.
Skype sucks more and more since Microsoft bought it.

Skype has been going down hill since the equity firm bought them. Pretty sure Skype stopped working with Fring during that time frame.
