So glad I'm not travelling for Thxgiving... - DP - 11-27-2013

Just watching the travel messes Down South-people abandoning cabs and running to the airport in a pouring cold rain to catch their flights as the traffic so bad. That is in Charlotte...
Here in SE lower MI it is below average cold; just plain old Up North weather; 18ºF with 14 mph wind from the NW giving us a windchill of 4º. Some flurries too but nothing that will accumulate.
How's everyone else-except for you CA folks Big Grin -that are dealing with travel doing so far? Hope Z and family are making that long flight OK...

Bad weather occasionally hits California, I believe it is the same storm that is still causing problems in the NE. It might even be related to the storm that damaged the Philippines.

On the warm side of the storm in Ma.
Power went out just after midnight.
At (around) 2 or 3 AM it came back on for about 3 minutes and then there were 8 or 9 bright white flashes about a mile up the road.
Came back on again around 4.
Wind is kicking up now infrequently blowing thru the gaskets of my front door making a sound similar to that when making a reed resonance by flattening the neck of a balloon.
New door gaskets on the things-to-do list.

I'm very happy that I don't have to fly. But not happy about the prospect of having to get around NYC all day, from early AM until late PM, with transit on a Subday schedule.

Pretty normal here in MN. Was 10 degrees out this morning while I was waiting for the bus to go to work. Not too windy, my 10 year old Denali jacket kept me warm. No snow, no rain.

Due to distances, scheduling and costs some people only get to see their entire family once a year. If I was about to miss a flight and not see my mom, siblings and family until next year, I'd be running through rain, sleet and snow as well to try my best and make that flight. Good luck everyone!

beautiful sunny afternoon in Seattle, 52 degrees.

Safe travels to everyone doing that this weekend - I have only I-5 traffic to Portland to deal with.

I've done the cross-country slog many times at the holidays and I know that you just need to get there, and don't really care about the obstacles. Tales of travel fiascos can make entertaining dinner conversation anyway.

Gave up traveling on Turkey Day about 15 years ago.

No regrets.
