He's NEVER going to be able to top THIS gift... unless he can raise the dead, or something equally improbable.

I don't understand. The bear smelled like something, but I don't know what? Sound was sort of hard to hear. Explain it to me.

Before Crawford was born, her mother received a teddy bear as a baby shower gift. The stuffed animal came to be known as Whitey. As a kid, Crawford loved this toy. But the wear and tear that teddy bears go through eventually caught up with Whitey, and he became disfigured, losing half of his stuffing in the process.
Alli sprung into action and took the bear to the Secaucus Doll and Teddy Bear Hospital. The company repairs stuffed animals and other toys. According to the Hudson Reporter, Luis and Ana Casas of Bogota, Colombia, started the company seven years ago.
“No patients ever die here,” Ana once told a customer, as reported by the paper. “They always go home healed and looking fit.”
In a video of Crawford opening her present, Alli notes that it took the hospital about a week to mend Whitey. In addition to replacing the stuffing, the teddy bear needed his head stitched back on, new eyes, a nose, and an ear.
But judging by Crawford’s reaction, it was all worth it.
It's her childhood bear.. repaired and given new life, but he still smells like her bear. Everyone knows the smell of their Teddy...

So for Christmas this past year, I wanted to get Jessica something beautiful - something that she would never expect, and moreover would be able to one-up proposing to her Christmas Eve of 2012.
After a month of research and looking through over 10,000 vintage teddy bears on online, I was able to find clues to reconstruct her childhood teddy bear "Whitey." Whitey was given to her as a gift during her mother's baby shower for Jess, so he is technically older than she is!
When I began this venture, Whitey was in two pieces (his head ripped off) and missing an ear, his nose, both eyes, and not to mention half of his stuffing was gone. So, I took him to the Secaucus Doll and Teddy Bear Hospital, and after a week, they were able to restore him to his original glory.
This is the video of my beautiful fiancée seeing Whitey again after so many years. If you notice that in the video she thinks it is just a regular teddy bear (hoping there was a Louis bag underneath), and the rest you will just have to watch and see . . .

I had a small elephant, Bibar, not Babar.
I think poor semi-denuded Bibar is still around someplace, maybe here, or at my mom's house.
My daughter has her Cuddly Dog. Still has him with her at her new apartment.

Interesting. Many years ago, my mum found my original teddy bear in a box somewhere, had him cleaned, reattached the head, put new eyes in, resewed the nose, and gave it for me for christmas. My kids were little at the time and so got to have a teddy bear called "dad bear". That was a wonderful gift.

It was also interesting that she smelled the bear, in passing, as she was about to look for her "real" gift. And then the realization… Amazing, the way smell can instantly transport you to another time or place.
