Speaking of TP... - Yoyodyne ArtWorks - 02-17-2014 Because one simply shouldn't scrimp on some things in life... Costco's new Kirkland Signature UltraSoft toilet paper is clearly intended to compete with Charmin Ultra Soft, but it just doesn't deliver the same quality and softness that Charmin does. Yes, it's $5 less for the exact same quantity of paper that's in the Charmin package that Costco sells, but life is too short to settle for inferior TP. Discriminating poopers moisten the TP first with a quick pass under the bathroom faucet before using, and the Kirkland stuff just doesn't hold together as well when damp. BTW, is anyone else annoyed that some brands of TP (like the two noted above) brag about their "Wider" 4.5-inch width when all TP on earth used to be that width, before the marketing weasels dropped TP products down to 4.25-inches wide? Given that 99% of the toilet roll holders extant are still sized for a 4.5-inch roll, did they think no one would notice this odious downsizing? Re: Speaking of TP... - josntme - 02-17-2014 Seems like everything is being downsized. And yes, TP isn't something I buy just because it's cheap. Publc restrooms usually have the cheap stuff that I need to use 2 miles worth to get the job done. :villagers: Re: Speaking of TP... - cbelt3 - 02-17-2014 "Never eat with your left hand". Almost made this mistake once at a communal meal in Baluchistan, around a fragrant fire of dried camel dung. The one English speaker in the group called my name and pantomimed why. He laughed. I laughed. And dug in. I think it was mostly goat and some unknown vegetable. And of course Nan. The key is to eat when it's boiling hot, and all the nice parasites are dead. It's not the width, it's the depth that's a problem. A new roll rubs on the back of the TP holder and I need to use a few days worth before it begins to unroll easily. Re: Speaking of TP... - steve... - 02-17-2014 The last time I bought the Charmin brand was several years ago. It seemed to me, at the time, that it's softness was a result of TOO MUCH AIR and not enough paper. I haven't tried it since. Re: Speaking of TP... - Kraniac - 02-17-2014 I just tested some of that stuff and you know what I found? Several Europeans!! It's true. They are! Re: Speaking of TP... - NewtonMP2100 - 02-17-2014 find Charmin to be linty....prefer Cottonelle..... .....and I thought this thread would be about the persecution of Native Americans and the derogatory references still left from years ago.... Re: Speaking of TP... - DP - 02-17-2014 find Charmin to be linty....prefer Cottonelle..... Me, too. I love Costco but their TP is the industrial type. I'll spend the extra dough. Re: Speaking of TP... - artie67 - 02-17-2014 The manufactures have increased the diameter of the core tube so that the roll is larger with the same amount of paper. The cores are lighter weight and distort by the time you install. Re: Speaking of TP... - NewtonMP2100 - 02-17-2014 .....just an fyi but I hate when they shrink sizes of products, as well. When you go to a supermarket now, you will see how wide spread it is but how they try to make the smaller size look the same....example, remember when ice cream came in half gallon sizes (I mean you Breyers).....now check the container sizes.... |
