In fact, in the case of Nugent, we have even come to see alleged child sexual abuse as some sort of eccentricity or harmless vice. Can you imagine anyone else who had been accused of having sex with a 12-year-old, written a song about raping a 13-year-old and adopted a 17-year-old so that he could have sex with her going on to campaign alongside all the most conservative "family values" candidates?

When Ted Nugent was 32 years old, he released the song "Jailbait." Here's a taste of the lyrics (written by him):

Creepy Uncle Ted wrote:
Well, I don't care if you're just 13

You look too good to be true

I just know that you're probably clean...

Jailbait you look fine, fine, fine...

It's quite alright, I asked your mama

Wait a minute, officer

Don't put those handcuffs on me

Put them on her, and I'll share her with you

The albums' next track is titled "I Am a Predator." I'm not kidding.

Wrap your mind around that for a moment:
the man wrote, recorded and released a semi-autobiographical pedophile joke. And then campaigned with Rick Perry.

In an interview for a VH1 “Behind the Music” documentary about him, Nugent, who hit the peak of his career in the 1970s, acknowledged that when he was young — and even not-so-young — he was “addicted to girls.”

“I was a wang-dang addict, I was addicted to girls. Addicted. It was hopeless,” he said in the video. “It was beautiful.”

By age 21, he had two children from two different women. By 30, after being married, having more kids and getting divorced, he was involved with a 17-year-old, for whom he assumed the mantle — with her parents’ permission — of legal guardian.

According to one of Nugent's former album producers, the man is nuts...was then, is now.

But on the plus side, Nugent makes Jerry Lee Lewis look like a choir boy.

Now I understand why he appeals to Tea Party types.

Greg Abbott, presumptive Republican nominee for edit: Texas Governor. One of the guys that was for more restrictive voter laws and then had to depend on a modification of the legislation to allow him to vote. It would have forced him to submit a provisional ballot because his State ID had a different name than his voter registration.

I believe the question is, who is Woody Allen campaigning for. Because otherwise the introduction of Allen's name is somewhat of a non sequitur.

Yes, I couldn't help taking that swipe, but I'm not a big fan of judging aging rock starts by the content of their lyrics alone. You could make even Peter Gabriel or Paul Simon look like like demons too if you really wanted to.

So "adopting" a 17 year old for sex purposes was just lyrics?
