Looking for a nano for my daughter... - bazookaman - 05-13-2014 Is the 5G the last one with a dock connector? She's got one of those freestanding speakers with the ipod dock on the top. So i need something with the dock connector. I figured an old nano would be the way to go. Re: Looking for a nano for my daughter... - RAMd®d - 05-13-2014 The 6G was the last with the 30-pin connector. A little scarce, from Apple. Re: Looking for a nano for my daughter... - Black - 05-13-2014 The 5G is the best with the dock connector. A 16 GB model in mint condition should run you <$100. Mine still seems to have 'full' battery life (i.e. many uses between charges...) Re: Looking for a nano for my daughter... - kj4btkljv - 05-13-2014 Find one on ebay, from a reputable seller. I was looking at the version with the camera, I think that's the 5G model, for my daughter. eBay was loaded with them, when we were looking. Jeff Re: Looking for a nano for my daughter... - particleman - 05-13-2014 Although I have not tried one myself, there are 30 pin dock compatible bluetooth receivers. This could put the 7th gen Nano in play as an option. Re: Looking for a nano for my daughter... - RAMd®d - 05-13-2014 This could put the 7th gen Nano in play as an option. If the unboxing experience isn't an issue, the 7G 'Pods are $99 at the Apple Refurb isle. They have a decent selection of colors, and if the one she wants isn't available, wait a few days to a week or so, and they're replenished. Re: Looking for a nano for my daughter... - bazookaman - 05-13-2014 was just looking on ebay. found an 8gb version in pink for around $40. might be a winner. her birthday IS coming up. Re: Looking for a nano for my daughter... - sekker - 05-13-2014 GameStop also. Remember this thing has a camera so some of that storage may go to video, or TV shows/movies (they took that capability away in the 6th gen.) Re: Looking for a nano for my daughter... - RAMd®d - 05-14-2014 Agreed on the 16GB, on all counts. I don't know your daughter's age, but it's a very good bet that she'd be using the camera a lot more than any of us. If a camera isn't a big deal for her, there's always a 6G (maybe), or a 7G with an adapter (although if it's not an MFi certified device it might not work). The latter is a pricier way to go, though. |
