Bluetooth Proximity Beacon Used in Nivea Paper Magazine
Brazilians who purchased a copy of the largest newsweekly magazine Veja (issue 23/04/2014) were shown a very innovative ad for Nivea SUN Kids. On the right side of the advertisement page they were offered a detachable bracelet made of water resistant paper with a Bluetooth beacon.
The ad on the magazine prompted readers to download an iOS or Android mobile app and to connect it to the bracelet to help them monitor the whereabouts of their kid on the beach.
By means of Bluetooth 4.0 technology, the app monitors the bracelet to a distance of approximately 30 meters. An alarm can be set if the kid goes beyond a distance set in the app.
The Bluetooth beacons used in this ad were manufactured by Sticknfind and the campaign was conceived by advertising agency FCB Brasil.
