BBQ/Grill tools: Tongs, Flipper, Brush, etc -- What's your favorite brand and model? - 3d - 05-28-2014 I got my first grill, a Weber Spirit, this weekend and now I need some tools to go with it. Most of my kitchen tools are plasticky due to non-stick cookware. And the few tools that are stainless are a bit short for reaching over a hot grill. Any favorite sets or single tools for me to consider? I see the $30 Weber Grill set is highly reviewed on Amazon. ![]() Re: BBQ/Grill tools: Tongs, Flipper, Brush, etc -- What's your favorite brand and model? - jdc - 05-28-2014 Tongs and a spatula, what more could you possibly need? Theres a 3 set of those tongs at costco for $13. If you have a resturant supply store near you, they might have some good stuff. $10 for tongs seems a bit much/ Re: BBQ/Grill tools: Tongs, Flipper, Brush, etc -- What's your favorite brand and model? - Speedy - 05-28-2014 Stainless steel wire brush: ![]() Re: BBQ/Grill tools: Tongs, Flipper, Brush, etc -- What's your favorite brand and model? - space-time - 05-28-2014 Speedy wrote: some comments about grill brushes here http://bbq.about.com/od/accessories/a/Grill-Brushes.htm Re: BBQ/Grill tools: Tongs, Flipper, Brush, etc -- What's your favorite brand and model? - Bimwad - 05-28-2014 I like my OXO tongs. Not the cheapest, but they're good quality, and serve well. Most of the stuff Weber puts their name on is above average in quality, but I'd still try to examine in in person first. I spent a couple extra bucks (coupon from B-Lowes helped) on their chimney starter, partly because it had good capacity and was one of the few that didn't immediately signal "cheap junk." I also like the triangular cleaning brushes better than the block/head style. Mine isn't a Weber, but it works well. Re: BBQ/Grill tools: Tongs, Flipper, Brush, etc -- What's your favorite brand and model? - Speedy - 05-28-2014 I've never had a problem with the long bristles on my brush. But I do heat the grill before brushing and I clean the grating pretty thoroughly. I can press and scrape hard with a heavy duty brush like these. space-time wrote: some comments about grill brushes here http://bbq.about.com/od/accessories/a/Grill-Brushes.htm Re: BBQ/Grill tools: Tongs, Flipper, Brush, etc -- What's your favorite brand and model? - 3d - 05-28-2014 What's the point of a slotted flipper/turner? I see some solid, some have long slits, some have little round circles. Is it a weight consideration? So the grease drips through? I can't imagine the little holes will do much. In any case, don't you WANT TO KEEP the juice and grease? ![]() ![]() Re: BBQ/Grill tools: Tongs, Flipper, Brush, etc -- What's your favorite brand and model? - norse - 05-28-2014 3d wrote: That's NO spatula, this IS: http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Bar-B-Q-02538XOB-Stainless-Oversized/dp/B009UWLKGW/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1401290106&sr=1-1&keywords=big+spatula I used this to flip over a slab of ribs the other day. There is usually some set endorsed by a TV chef for $10 or so. PS I got a Spirit grill and LOVE it. Great choice. Congrats! |
