The Amazon phone?

I'm intrigued. Will I buy one? Probably not. Same deal as the Kindle Fire and Fire TV. While I really appreciate these devices and what they offer, I've already invested into competing "ecosystems" prior to Amazon's products being launched. While I could jump into another device pretty easily (I'm flexible and enjoy tech), I just haven't felt the need to lean into the Fire family. Not yet anyway.

As such, doubt I'm ready to go Fire Phone either, but I do appreciate all the healthy competition in this space. Looking forward to the announcement.

If Amazon is smart they'll offer a large-screened AmazoPhon with no contract, $14.95 per month or $135 per year, incl a generous helping of data, texts, and unltd talk, subsidized by a prominent and awkwardly placed red Hotline button to re-order more stuff from the world of Amazon, another dedicated button for instant AmazoChat about the universe of their alluring products and the sub-universes of reviews and comments of those products, auto acceptance of near-daily texts offering Gold Box deals or whatever for more junk that you don't need, animated banner ads endlessly enticing you to upgrade to Prime Platinum+, special flashing Recommended For YOU instant graphics based on the first 3 characters of any word you type in, etc etc.

It's a brave new world a-comin'.

I hope it is a device that can handle the dozens of emails I get from amazon every time I look at a few items.

i visit amazon a number of times a week. i never get these types of emails. perhaps you need to look into your account settings and turn something off.

Maybe it correlates to how much is purchased. I have unsubscribed to many of their email options but it never ends. Every time I unsubscribe it is classified under some new classification. I also put things in my cart so I can research before I buy.

seriously? i mean, i used to get those emails but it's been years. as i said, i surf on amazon a few times a week and order once a week or more. i guess i've unsubscribed from enough lists that they've given up as they can see i buy anyway. ;-)
