BACKGROUND
In 2014, we added a new Forum, "For Sale & Free Items". This area is for REGISTERED USERS only - no browsing by non-members. If you’ve got friends you want to see the items for sale, they’re going to need to register for an account. And it’d be very helpful if YOU sent a PM to mrp-admin and introduce them, as there is authentication required on all new user accounts, it’s not automated.
The forum features three primary listings, for SELLING, for FREE ITEMS, and for WANTED items. You can also link items you have for sale via EBAY, AMAZON, etc.
GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR LISTING
Please be clear and ALL CAPS your type of listing. Note that these are the required headers for each posting. NO ABBREVIATIONS OR ALTERATIONS. Only the below is allowed.
FOR SALE: (item name and short description) (note any information regarding shipping, whether free or otherwise)
FREE: (item name and short description) (note that this implies the offerer will pay for shipping)
FREE FOR SHIPPING: (item name and short description; the taker will get the item for free but pay for shipping)
MAKE OFFER: (item name and short description)
WANTED: (description)
EBAY: (description)
This will allow for easier perusing of the forum and remove any questions in regards an item’s transaction type. Your posts may be edited in order to follow these guidelines.
NOTE: You cannot use this side of the forum for "what is this worth" or related posts.
AFTER THE ITEM HAS BEEN SOLD, CLAIMED, OR FOUND, EDIT your subject on your initial post to let others know the thread is effectively closed. Guidelines here are as follows:
SOLD: (for items you have sold)
GONE: (for items you have given away for free or free-for-shipping)
FOUND: (after you find a wanted item)
PLEASE LEAVE THE TITLE/ITEM DESCRIPTION IN PLACE.
Posts without set criteria noted will be marked as either "COMPLETED" or "RESCINDED" before moving.
Also note that items sold, gone, or found will be moved after a fashion to the For Sale & Free Items Archive forum. This forum will remain as a record of the item/transaction (along with your own private messages regarding said transaction) and is searchable in the same manner as the other forums.
GENERAL RULES
General Rules are noted below; note that these are subject to change as this forum continues to evolve.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO SELL. You are NOT allowed to list items for sale unless you have a MINIMUM of 100 posts on the MacResource forum. If you see someone posting an item for sale and they do not meet this minimum requirement, for the good of the community REPORT THE POST. New membership is likely to go up because of this restricted side. There is no way to restrict members from seeing the forum once registered and we are very diligent about not allowing spammers in.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO OFFER FREE ITEMS. You may post items for free if you are not at the 100 post minimum.
PHOTOS. Please include photographs of your items to keep things open & honest. You can include images in-line or via link to an album at a hosting service (such as Imgur or Flickr).
TRANSACTIONS RE/FOR SALE OR FREE ITEMS. If you are looking to purchase an item, private messaging (PM) is recommended to negotiate on the items rather than posting in the thread. Noting a desire to claim a Free item should also be followed up by a PM.
PAYMENTS. All listings need to be clear in regards to payment requirements, and what is expected regarding shipping as well. This is between you and your buyer.
ARCHIVING OF TRANSACTIONS. Completed transactions will be moved as a complete thread as a record of your transaction, to the For Sale & Free Items Archive.
NO UNRELATED POSTS. Let's keep this side clean. Posts on this side that are NOT relevant to this side of the forum -- meaning if they do not fall under one of the post topics (FOR SALE, FREE, or WANTED), THEY WILL BE REMOVED.
PROHIBITED ITEMS. Please note that certain items are forbidden from being listed (FOR SALE, FREE, or WANTED).
* No listings regarding medicines or pharmaceuticals (OTC or RX).
* No listings regarding activation-locked electronics.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, this is between you, and your peers here at the MacResource Forum. The MacResource forum / Price.com cannot be held responsible for ANY TRANSACTIONS that take place on this forum.
ERRATA
ADMINISTRATION. Administration will be handled by both Forum administrators and volunteer Zoidberg. If your post shows "edited by Zoidberg" it just means that the title has been edited to keep in line with the above guidelines. Content will not be edited.
DELETIONS. Zoidberg will try to keep the forum clean & current. For Sale items may get a courtesy PM to see if the item is still available (and should be re-listed by the poster); Wanted/Free Items may be deleted w/o communication. In general, active posts (i.e., not yet sold, not yet found, etc.) will be left for a six month period from the initial posting date.
