Woody Allen - meh... - richorlin - 08-30-2014
Just saw his most recent movie. "Magic in the Moonlight". Wasted $11 times two.
Trite, boring and predictable.
Woody Allen hasn't made a decent picture since "Hannah and Her Sisters", and that was 1986, 34 years ago. "Midnight in Paris" was cute, but that was only because of the time-travel premise.
He's been riding on his reputation (as a film-maker, not human being) for the last forty years.

I don't know anything about this movie. But my daughter was born in 1986, and she'll be happy to learn that being "mature for your age" means that you are older than you think you are.
Or maybe not so happy.

I just didn't want anyone to think that I was crazy enough to pay $22 for a movie ticket.

I'll probably end up seeing it down the pipeline.
I enjoyed "Blue Jasmine" last year and I think you just forgot about "Crimes and Misdemeanors"

I liked Midnight in Paris. And Blue Jasmine was good enough.
But I don't/didn't waste time in butter-soaked, petri dishes.

I also enjoyed Midnight in Paris, some of the characterizations were great (particularly Dali). Not so much Blue Jasmine, but I have definitely seen worse.

Have you seen all of his movies over the last 34 years? No? Then you are in no position to make that statement.
