Not bad if you can live with one speed, I finally gave up on a B&D cordless drill I got in 2001. The charger died and I got a new 18v drill as a close out at Big Lots--$9.95 out the door.

it means you disassemble it, and solder in new cells.
I have done that several times over the years with my Skil Super Twist cordless screw driver.

As Racer X mentioned, open and replace. That's more like a cordless screwdriver.

And actually, I love my ancient Skil Super Twist. There is something said for a more controllable slower but high torque driver.

Actually in the description it says 2 speed, 325/650 rpm, but I didn't think they made non-variable speed
drills like this anymore. I'm still liking my Craftsman C3 series.

My LDX172 is only one speed - and I have seen comments that it is NOT 2-speed - in spite of what some of the descriptions say..
