Thanks sekker for posting a link to zdnet reviews.

I bought a really cheap lite-on drive from New Egg for like $16 and I didn't think much about it, but today I checked the specs, not sure why, but I noticed the M-DISC.

So I just placed my order at Amazon for some M-DISC DVDs. I paid $30 for a 10 pack, ink-jet printable. If I like it, I will probably switch to the Bluray version, 25 GB per disk at about $5 each. seems more cost effective than $3 for 5 GB per DVD.

anyway, will report back in a few weeks (more like a month) after I burn some and see how they work in various DVD players and computers around the house.

I'm interested to hear of your results.

I was in Best Buy yesterday and on an impulse buy, I bought a portable LG DVD Writer LG SP60 that is M-Disc compatible for $30.

Are any of those DVD players and computers around the house capable of playing Blueray disks?

I only have one bluray player for my TV, so I will need to get a burner with M-DISC support if I decide to go that route.

I will start with DVDs. Plenty of those.

Please pass along your experience.

We would love to find a good Blu Ray writer. I didn't see any when I searched.
