Bob Marley & the Wailers "Legend (Remastered)" ENTIRE album 99 cents at Google Play - pinkoos - 09-02-2014 Most of us probably already have this but, if not, this is a great deal for an awesome album. https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Bob_Marley_The_Wailers_Legend_Remastered?id=Bgu6ki5lbi5wpg2xbfshsbsgozm Re: Bob Marley & the Wailers "Legend (Remastered)" ENTIRE album 99 cents at Google Play - silvarios - 09-02-2014 Thanks for the killer deal!!!!! ![]() /begin rant Uh. Great album, horrible service. If you download the album through the Play Music app directly on a device, it is very hard to get the darn music off the device or accessible with another music app. You can use the web interface on a computer, but you only get two chances to download via this method. Otherwise, you have to use a whole separate app from Google, Music Manager1, just to get your downloads to your computer. The whole process reminds me of the stupid™ that is iTunes, except a bit more open on account of the limited web access and more flexible platform support for the Google Play Music app2. Why would you want to download the music separately instead of using the Play Music app? Maybe you are trying to offload content from your Nook HD's internal storage to an SD card (Kit Kat is supposed to enable SD download of music, so there's a small bit of sunshine)? Maybe you want to play the music in another music player than Play Music? Maybe you want to store the music on your home media server and share to any client that can access DLNA, Plex Media Server, etc rather than constantly using Google's cloud and apps? Maybe you want to put it in iTunes and then load into iTunes Match or Amazon's MP3 upload service? Why is two downloads not enough? Maybe you are one of the people who tried downloading an album and one of the tracks had a corrupted download, twice, and now you are one track short without jumping through the aforementioned hoops? I hope I'm mistaken about the limitations of Play Music, but after researching for an hour why I couldn't directly access the Frozen Soundtrack3 so I can move it to the SD card on my daughter's Nook4, I was a little peeved by the complexity of actually getting to the DRM free MP3 tracks. I have web browser, Google has a web interface for the store. Why does't this work better? 1Music Manager of course has unlimited access to your music. 2Mobile apps also have unlimited access to your music and Play Music is available on iOS and Android. 3$3.99 on sale at Google Play; in theory, great present for the daughter. Then I run into this mess. 4Ideally, later I would transfer the tracks to iTunes so I can sync to her iPod and iPhone as well. /end rant Hope my rant didn't spoil the deal. I really do mean it when I say thanks. Re: Bob Marley & the Wailers "Legend (Remastered)" ENTIRE album 99 cents at Google Play - decay - 09-02-2014 4. i say my daughter's Nook, but I mean my music player. ![]() Re: Bob Marley & the Wailers "Legend (Remastered)" ENTIRE album 99 cents at Google Play - vision63 - 09-02-2014 Just go to play.google.com then click on "music," then click on "my music." Hover over the album image which should be first cuz you just bought it, click on the three dots then click "download that bastard" Then put it on what you want. I let my daughter claim the toys because then I can say to the SO, "But honey, it's for the kid, I just want to be a generous parent." ![]() Re: Bob Marley & the Wailers "Legend (Remastered)" ENTIRE album 99 cents at Google Play - silvarios - 09-02-2014 vision63 wrote: Right, but only twice. Then your web access is gone. I was shocked to see the limitation since it is unlimited via the Google apps. Oh and it doesn't seem to work directly on a mobile device. The web interface keeps directing me to sign up for "All Access". Can't find a skip this step. It's really weird. They're gonna try to get you to sign up for the All Access thing. You click on "Got it" and it goes away. I'm on my Mac doing this. Seems really simple from this perspective. I still "manage" my music from iTunes. I put whatever I "buy" into iTunes. Then Google's music manager uploads it to Play. If I buy something off of Play, I still download it but I don't put it into iTunes, cuz that means I'll have a dupe of the song. I can Google Drive the songs to my sister or whoever and they can do what they want with it. Re: Bob Marley & the Wailers "Legend (Remastered)" ENTIRE album 99 cents at Google Play - silvarios - 09-03-2014 Now try the download from web directly on the mobile device. Any luck? I can't get the download in browser to work directly on the mobile device. Having to download the same tracks is pretty stupid anyway. They are already on the Nook, but I have to download a second time just to get it on my computer and then transfer back to the Nook? This is a little stupid, no? If you press it, it will immediately download. Do you have the app or are you trying via the web interface? Okay, I'm on my Nexus 7 and requested the desktop site and was able to download that way. Hence my frustration. I downloaded the tracks in Play Music, I want a. other media players on device to be able to see the tracks and b. transfer the tracks off the Nook. Without re-downloading the tracks again. I'm being obstinate because the way Play Music currently works is broken. Really Google? Appending .nomedia on the directory so no other media players can see the tracks? Hiding the files unless I have a rooted device? Limiting the amount of web downloads so I have to use your apps to access DRM free music? Seems pretty consumer unfriendly to me. |
