FU on Vizio shuts down or hooray for Costco - abevilac - 09-03-2014

I bought the tv from Costco in 2007 and I stopped by today and sure enough I'm getting a 40" replacement for my now dead 37" Vizio. :-)

Costco's Concierge service is like a bully on your behalf towards it's vendors.

wow! I should have done that with my Sharp that failed after 4 years.
I fixed it myself, but that would have been easier.

Does this service cost extra? I got a lightning zap recently that took out my Vizio. It took about 3 weeks from the initial surge to totally kill the TV, but I had to shell out about $200 to get it fixed. Obviously I didn't get it at Costco.

The concierge service does not cost extra--beyond the $55/year membership fee, that is. I think it's money well spent.

I paid $800 for the TV in 2007 and didn't pay for any extended warranties. $300 of the cost actually came from my year-end rebate, so out of pocket was $500. Today, after bringing back the dead TV w/ power cord and remote and receipt, they gave me a cash card w/ $800 on it. I bought another $500 TV - a series M Vizio - and it left me w/ $300 still on the card. Nice???

PS I bought a SquareTrade warranty this time.

Curious about how you got Costco to give a full refund? I thought they changed their return policy on electronics to 90 days and 2 year warranty. I think the policy change was implemented in early 2007, so did you just slip in under the wire? What was the purchase date?
