I know a particular style of mustache does not make someone Hitler. But still, even if you inexplicably don't think it looks stupid, I thought that was intrinsically banned for all time. And I suppose I could be wrong, but the guy didn't appear to be making a skinhead/neo-nazi statement.

After a trimming error , I've had that sort of thing ( in the far past ... The 'stash went away when I turned 40).

It may not be gone for ALL time... and let's face it... to a LOT of people, WWII was as far back as the war of 1812 - and equally "boring" to them. I have met teachers in their early 20's that couldn't tell you who was on what side in WWII
Another 20-30 years, when every single person who was alive before 1950 is gone, and I'll bet no one will think twice about the narrow, broad, mustache being associated with a murdering dictator.

I wasn't alive during WWII either (or before 1960 for that matter) but I have watched The History Channel.
P.S.: Your observation about some teachers in their 20's is downright frightening.

See, there's your problem! Now you know less about history than you did when you were two.
As for the mustache: it was a pretty typical style (look up "toothbrush mustache") in the early 20th century. Oliver Hardy wore one. Like the swastika, which also has a long and varied history, Hitler forever poisoned it and made it unacceptable forever. Had it not been for him, I'd expect it would be considered a standard look.

Maybe you watched the History Channel back when they SHOWED History programming... now it's reality TV and Wrestling...
I've watched a LOT of people's shares of History documentaries... but I'm also a small minority (so are you).
People born after the mid 80's have MUCH less concept of WWII.
And yes, it's frightening the level of ignorance SOME new teachers graduate with... NOT all, mind you... (we just hired a very newly graduated teacher to teach history at my school, and HE is EXCELLENT, and VERY well versed! ).
Even the bottom 1/4 of every graduating class of new teachers get jobs and end up teaching kids - and some of them ARE downright scary-ignorant!
