Is this one of the Toto Drakes we like? - Bo - 09-11-2014 Time to replace the toilet! Crack in the trap and and constant clogs even with just TP. I've snaked and cleaned the trap but I think the crack just catches everything. Hosting a party of 75 people at the house in a couple of weeks and don't want this to bring it all to a standstill. TOTO Drake Elongated Bowl and Tank, Cotton White CST744S $212 http://www.amazon.com/TOTO-Drake-Elongated-Cotton-White/dp/B0012HINC2/ref=sr_sp-btf_image_1_13?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1410465740&sr=1-13&keywords=toto+drake+2 Or should I really go with a Drake II? Main criteria: Solid waste removal. I do not want to deal with clogs anymore. 12" Rough-in White $200-250± (could stretch here a bit but trying to be a bit frugal) That's it…don't care about dB or type of flush mechanism etc. PS I am in California so I think that might mean I'm supposed to go with a WaterSense unit which this is not. Re: Is this one of the Toto Drakes we like? - Uncle Wig - 09-11-2014 This is the one I have and I'm very happy with it. Works as advertised. No clogs. I got the matching slow-close seat/lid. It seems a little flimsy but it works. I ordered from http://www.nationalbuildersupply.com/toto/b1056 and was happy with their service and shipping. Check prices. Re: Is this one of the Toto Drakes we like? - weapon - 09-11-2014 I like the ada height version but yes that is the throne! Don't forget the soft close lid, which is sold separately. Re: Is this one of the Toto Drakes we like? - Bimwad - 09-11-2014 It's a fine commode, but I never liked the fact that the plastic bolts used to secure the seat to the rim would loosen, and allow it to shift out of alignment. And I didn't want to crank them down and potentially crack the mounting points. I complained to Toto and they sent me some metal bolts with rubber backed heads. Re: Is this one of the Toto Drakes we like? - GuyGene - 09-12-2014 Check out old Terry's site: http://www.terrylove.com I have Toto, work great! Re: Is this one of the Toto Drakes we like? - anonymouse1 - 09-12-2014 Another vote for slow closing lid. Great feature! Re: Is this one of the Toto Drakes we like? - bruceko - 09-12-2014 As long as it does not have the SaniGloss finish it is good we have an Ultra MaxToto with the miricle sanigloss finish. Toto lies about its virtues. Material sticks more easily than regular porcelain and is harder to clean. When I called Tot about the problem they said they don't care about their marketing literature about how great it is. They claim it is just porcelian. Re: Is this one of the Toto Drakes we like? - Bill in NC - 09-12-2014 Great price - I paid nearly $300 each delivered for 3 basic elongated Drakes a few years ago (one ADA height for dad's master bath) I don't like ADA height, but I'm not old enough to need it yet. Skip the Sanigloss finish. I didn't like the way the tank attached either (also took forever), so given the benefit of hindsight I'd recommend a one-piece. Those are heavier & more expensive, but much easier to install - just "pop & drop." I picked the "eco" models (1.25 gallons/flush instead of 1.6) and they work just fine. Re: Is this one of the Toto Drakes we like? - mrbigstuff - 09-12-2014 I have that model as well as the Drake II with 1.0g flush. The II was nearly twice the price of the Drake (IIRC, I paid 175 for the model you linked on sale) but it operates nearly the same. I like the II for the smaller physical tank size and water savings, but it's slight and certainly not worth the cost differential. In retrospect, I should have gone for the cheaper model for both installs. And, I have not found the Sanagloss to make much of a difference, fyi. edit: and one *can* plug them up, they are not magical.... Re: Is this one of the Toto Drakes we like? - Bo - 09-12-2014 Thanks for all the input! I think I'll go for it and, on everyone's advice, will opt for the soft close seat as well. I'd like the ADA height but not for an extra $100. Sounds like the Sanagloss isn't all that it's cracked up to be either. |
