That translucency bullsh*t has got to go.
EDIT: Not a big fan of the change to the system font, either.

I said this before and here I go again: at some point Apple will make downgrades virtually impossible. They will do with Macs the same thing they do now with iDevices.

Never paid any attention to the Public Beta. About to run 10.10 ...
Looked at Ars' visual comparison article. Didn't like what I saw, and iOS 7 didn't bother me. But on the Mac, the more sophisticated nature of a UI with shadow effects and "3D" like stuff makes sense. The flatness does not. And some apps losing he title bar is a dangerous precedent.
I'll read Siracusa, as I always do. Hopefully the things he doesn't like are also visual but with a conclusion like what's quoted above I worry.

I've been running the developers version from the beginning to GMC 3.
No problems for me.
I like the subtle visual touches such as the translucency. I've never had a problem with it and it certainly lends an elegant touch to the OS.
There are areas were the flatness is too severe for my tastes. And I'm not that crazy about the system font, either.
is a dangerous precedent.

I downloaded Yosemite on a spare computer. Everything seems to work OK.
BUT ... I'm don't like it. Seems too pale and washed out and flat. Not as pleasant to use.
Someone else mentioned Mavericks (10.9.5) is the new 10.6.8; I have to agree.
