Page Plus 4g-- status? - Black - 10-17-2014 Fully aware that RgG is probaly the only one up on the situation.... just losing my tolerance for wading through all the shilling and ignorance and advertising at Howard Forums. So.... SIM cards only available through dealers? What should I expect to pay? Personal experience with speeds, anyone? Re: Page Plus 4g-- status? - rgG - 10-17-2014 I think bazookaman has actually activated a 5S on the LTE on PP. From what I have read, they are still very much in shakedown mode and have had a lot of "issues." Unless you have a new 4G device that you are dying to get activated, I would suggest waiting until they advertise 4G on their website. AFAIK, you can only get the SIMs from dealers right now, and they appear to be in tight supply. Some dealers are grossly overcharging, but other appear to be reasonable. I saw a list of dealers and what they are charging, but I don't have the link any more. Also, the 4G speeds are heavily throttled, but still better than 3G Maximum 4G Data Speed: 3.5 Mbps Maximum Download Speed: 3 Mbps Maximum Upload Speed: 1 Mbps The big, and it is big, advantage to the 4G/LTE, is that you can bring a newer 4G device to PP without jumping through the flashing/jailbreaking hoops. My advice, wait a bit, unless you have a new phone to activate. Re: Page Plus 4g-- status? - Black - 10-17-2014 Thanks. My situation: Had a Sprint GS3 that I bought kind of by accident on eBay, great price/great condition, that I started trying to learn how to flash myself-- got to the point where I had it working with reliable talk/text but in-and-out data at 1x. I bought a cheap/cracked Galaxy Fascinate to use as donor for the 3g keys, activated it.... and just got used to putting off the next step, although I loved the GS3 and want to get back to it. So now it appears the Sprint GS3 can't be used with 4G.... the obvious plan is to buy a Verizon GS3, figure out how to flash the Sprint back to factory stock, and sell it.... Have you seen any indication on when the sims might be available from PPC? Re: Page Plus 4g-- status? - BCam - 10-17-2014 The info I have gotten from Kitty Wireless is as follows: Chips for 4G via Page Plus are around $5 shipped. Supplies tight but shipping soon. Good for 5 and 5S. Still some question as to whether/when chips will work with 6, 6+. I'm going to try out on 5S to see how it goes. And if reliable, will consider going up to 6, if possible. I found the link that listed some of the dealers who are selling SIMs, but the link is probably out of date, so you would have to check each dealers website. There were some issues with certain Android phones not being able to text, but I didn't read those threads, so I don't know which ones were affected or if they have that issue fixed. You would probably want to research that to make sure the GS3 wasn't affected. http://www.prepaidphonenews.com/2014/10/page-plus-lte-now-live-sim-sources-and.html Re: Page Plus 4g-- status? - rgG - 10-17-2014 BCam wrote: Looks like Kitty is selling the SIMs for $25. A 6 or 6+ will activate, from everything I have read, and people report success. You should have no problem with a 5S, as long as it isn't currently active on another MVNO and you are trying to port both the number and the phone. Re: Page Plus 4g-- status? - Black - 10-17-2014 I hope PPC is paying you for being their ambassador to the MR/F! Re: Page Plus 4g-- status? - bazookaman - 10-17-2014 I bought a 5S from swappa. At the same time I ordered a nano sim from https://www.pageplusdirect.com/index.html. Got them within a day of each other. Activated the sim per their instructions and I was going with no issues. I'm getting about the speeds that Rhonda stated in her post. No other issues thus far. As she also said, I was mostly excited about being able to bring 4G devices to the table now. Instead of using an EOL 3G 4S. Re: Page Plus 4g-- status? - rgG - 10-17-2014 Black wrote: Ha, ha. I wish. ![]() I was thinking about switching my ST iPhone 5 to 4G, but I am on Wifi 90% of the time, and with throttled speeds, it doesn't really seem worth the trouble. I think I have decided to wait till next year, to upgrade to a 6+, so I may decide to upgrade to 4G later, but I am good for now. I do wonder if I would get better call quality on 4G. I need to test that with my daughter's phone sometime. I am glad that if I do get a 6+ at some point, it should be simple to get it activated.
