Recommendations for Hackintosh video card? - anonymouse1 - 10-19-2014 Background: I don't play computer games or do any serious graphics/video editing. Criteria: Gives me all the bells and whistles from Mavericks and/or Yosemite Can drive two monitors simultaneously (via DVI or HDMI) Relatively low power draw/low heat Relatively low cost (preferably $50 to $100, or less if possible) I'm willing to buy used/refurbished. I'm currently running an Nvidia GeForce 9500GT, and am thinking about an Nvidia 640 GT, like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130867&cm_re=Nvidia_640_GT-_-14-130-867-_-Product I welcome your comments/suggestions, and of course, our new Intel overlords...... Re: Recommendations for Hackintosh video card? - Filliam H. Muffman - 10-19-2014 With the new iMac rockin' an AMD GPU, I would be tempted to say an R7-250 or 250x in low profile. The new Nvidia low budget champ according to TomsHardware is the GeForce GT 730 64-bit GDDR5, but it might be new enough not to be supported in a Hackintosh. Re: Recommendations for Hackintosh video card? - ADent - 10-20-2014 Might be OK. I haven't checked on video cards in a long time (I have a 5770) - but the June buyers guide had a similar GT640. http://www.tonymacx86.com/436-building-customac-buyer-s-guide-june-2014.html#gfx_cards Re: Recommendations for Hackintosh video card? - anonymouse1 - 10-20-2014 Excellent--thanks!
