That article gave me an idea, why not run a folding client on your cell phone? It might run the batery down, but you could set it up to work only when it was hooked up to a charger.

Right now, folding is causing more cancer than it's curing. It's burning up electricity, pumping toxic gasses into the air... pollution from the creation of electricity is a big issue in most of the world.

Not to mention, I can't imagine a cell phone being any better at folding than my G3 iMac (an actual computer), and it's terribly slow at completing a WU.

The Intel Macs have been out for 6 months.
Where is the Intel-optimized Folding@Home client for Mac OSX?

Good question. And Apple no longer even sells PPC Macs (actually they do but they're no longer part of the regular lineup). Stanford needs to get with the program.
Actually the latest word is 2-3 weeks for release of the native client. But we're still trying to figure out what that means because the programmer specifically said "client" not cores. Whether the client is Intel native or not doesn't matter; it's the cores that matter.
