Apple "Customer Care" - BigGuynRusty - 08-25-2006 There is a huge anti-Apple ranter on this forum, I posted this a few days ago, before the battery recall.: From this link.: http://forums.macresource.com/read/1/152728/152728#msg-152728 "Thank You AppleCare! Posted by: BigGuynRusty Date: August 19, 2006 06:19PM The Story.: Received a call from Apple on the morning of 8/8, "we need your AC Adapter, and Battery from your 25 Month Old 14" iBook." Little backstory, I had my AC Adapter replaced a few months ago when the DC cord and the plug got a divorce. It seems the replacement was 65 watt, not the 45 watt that the unit came with. Apple Labs wanted the AC Adapter, and my now always dead battery back. I say, "Umm, Okay" Actually there was a ten minute conversation with what I find out after a couple of questions is a fairly high-level tech at Apple Labs. He apologizes for someone sending the wrong adapter out a few months back. Gives me two Repair Order numbers, says the new stuff should be at my house by 8/28 at the latest. 8/9 0800 HRS (8:00 a.m. for you civilians) Two DHL boxes show up on my doorstep, actually fly over the fence and land with a solid thump on my porch! New AC Adapter, and Battery are running fine. 8/9 Put old stuff in the DHL boxes, remove old shipping label, new return shipping label is underneath. I read the instruction sheet, call 1-800-DHL-COME-GET-YOUR-PACKAGES, arrange for a pickup, they say the will be here after noon on 8/9! 8/9 1205 HRS (12:05 p.m. for the civies) DHL pulls up, grabs the boxes, says "Thanks!" and takes off. 8/10 DHL Tracking indicates that the packages arrived at Apple lab at 0730 HRS. (7:30 a.m. for the civilians) Truly speedy! Like all my dealings with Apple over the past two and a half decades! Thanks Apple! BGnR" This is the level of Apple Customer Service I have received from Apple for over two and a half decades, most of that time as a certified Mac tech, supporting hundreds of Macs at a time, they have never disappointed me. BGnR Re: Apple "Customer Care" - jdc - 08-25-2006 im sorry, i will stop being anti apple :o Re: Apple "Customer Care" - BigGuynRusty - 08-25-2006 [quote jdc]im sorry, i will stop being anti apple :o LOL! You know it isn't you! The one I speaks of makes up stories, like he really owns a Mac! BGnR Re: Apple "Customer Care" - elmo3 - 08-25-2006 [quote BigGuynRusty][quote jdc]im sorry, i will stop being anti apple :o LOL! You know it isn't you! The one I speaks of makes up stories, like he really owns a Mac! BGnR LOL! The guy you're talking about owns more Macintosh computers right now than you've ever owned total! But it was nice of Apple to cover their LEGAL LIABILITY by QUIETLY picking up the adapter that THEY SENT YOU BY MISTAKE. And this same Apple can't even make a web site that does simple math to figure out whether a serial number is covered or not! I'm not an anti-Apple ranter; I simply call 'em as I see 'em. That I'm not constantly ranting pro-Apple doesn't make me an anti-Apple ranter, your black-and-white world notwithstanding. Re: Apple "Customer Care" - $tevie - 08-25-2006 Just to add fuel to the fire, I went to the Apple web site and they are denying that my computer is covered even though it obviously is (I know how to read and I can figure out that "5" comes between "4" and "6". Aren't you all impressed? ![]() So it looks like I, too, am going to have to call about this. Why send everyone to a web site that doesn't work? I always say, Apple has made good on every problem I have had with one of their products. But getting to that point can be a real PITA sometimes. PS - $tevie - 08-25-2006 PS - it has occurred to me that maybe the Apple site didn't like Firefox. I shall give Safari a try later today. Re: Apple "Customer Care" - elmo3 - 08-25-2006 It's not Firefox, trust me. It's Apple. Re: Apple "Customer Care" - JJ - 08-25-2006 I am very happy with my Apple customer service experiences as well. Apple has always been helpful even when I was at the end of my rope. Re: Apple "Customer Care" - elmo3 - 08-25-2006 [quote JJ]I am very happy with my Apple customer service experiences as well. Apple has always been helpful even when I was at the end of my rope. Of course, now they're barely answering the phone--because they know they got nuthin' with respect to the completely broken web site. Just like Apple--they announce something (battery recall--please go to our web site to register) and then don't ship it (functioning web site) until long after. Hey, guys--this isn't the newest, latest, greatest gadget you're trying to hype up to sell. This is a battery recall. You don't hold the web site functionality on this just to up the hype or something. Re: Apple "Customer Care" - JJ - 08-25-2006 elmo3, When you called Apple did they refuse to help you? Were they rude and abusive like you are to people on this forum? JJ |
