casio exilim s500, a thin camera was key for me too - fits easily in a front pants pocket. about the size of a deck of cards - a little thinner, takes sd cards, 5 mpx, does a good job at movies too. i'd buy it again, current price is ~250?, i think.

lots of new cameras coming out right now, photokina is only a month away -- so either a great time to get a bleeding edge camera or get something discounted

Pentax Optio line of cameras have worked great for me for the last two years. Fits in an altoid can. Perfect for spontaneous shots - I carry one all the time.

For what it's worth, our daughter (and her friends) really like her Kodak V550. It's about the size of a deck of playing cards.
