A few landscapes from the river - no animals this time. - hal - 03-26-2015

I left the house DETERMINED to hike 6-8mi and only brought the camera (little Lumix SZ19) in case of emergency. And OF COURSE... I walked passed a lot of opportunities. I saw lots of big, healthy rabbits/hares. I brought the canon, but kept it in the pack ONLY to be pulled out in case of Bald Eagles and such rarities.

But I did see two things I've never seen before and two REALLY nice Oak tree scenes, so I stopped for a few pics.

How did a little flag wedge itself 40 feet up in a tree?

Pretty trail shot....

Scary Monster Oak

On the way back... MOUNTAINS?? I never even knew they could be seen from the river area, but along the route I took, the river took a bend. Didn't see on the hike out, but on the way back I looked up and saw big, snow covered mountains...

Nice shots of the oaks. Really miss those trees. Pines here in Washington don't hold a candle.

You ever make a guitar out of oak?

Nice to see green. Not going to see that for a while yet... The Lumix does a good job!

It must have been a very clear day. On clear days I can easily see the Coast mountains from higher spots in Sacramento.

Love that oak tree. Not scary, looks homey to me, being a southerner. California is so beautiful. Wish it wasn't so expensive to live there, Ethyl and I have talked of living in California...

Oak trees look like something out of a Stephen King novel or movie.

Arms reaching down to grab you...
