Volvo shows love for Black - RgrF - 03-29-2015

Volvo is turning its attention to two-wheeled safety, for the moment. The Swedish car manufacturer and UK design firm Grey London have partnered with Albedo100 to create a reflective spraypaint that's only visible at night. It's called LifePaint, but it's technically not paint; it's a washable material that lasts about 10 days after application. It's also completely invisible until it's hit *by the glare of a car's headlights — then it glows.

or maybe just for ho'ard

Hmm.. a spray paint that is invisible until hit with headlights. That has huge potential - for teenage pranksters and vandals.

I thought they were going to be reviving Henry Ford's "Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black".

Huh.

It's interesting enough, from a tech viewpoint.

I'm just not sure of the practical application for a temporary paint.

If it were permanent and available to reflect in other colors, I'd want some.

It would be cool to sprays riders' clothing from head to toe, and *not* the bikes. It would make for some cool pics. Like looking at subjects with FLIR.

It's surprising how few colors some car makers have available.

I've noticed that, too.

I remember when there might be 10-12, maybe more, colors to choose from.

And I see that a few manufacturers don't have black as an interior color, just shades of gray.
