$99 4TB Samsung too, but not sure what kind of drive is inside. No idea on warranty.

If purchased straight through Newegg, it has a 3 year warranty. But it is $130 that way. I would imagine if print out the page for that item on Newegg's page, and have paperwork through eBay with Newegg as the seller, as long as the manufacturer's ietm# is the same, you could force the issue for a 3 year warranty.

In today's email blast the 6 TB HGST is $289. I got one a few weeks ago and popped it into a Mercury Elite case. It's not whisper-quiet but it certainly supplies some breathing room.

I am not tempted by any Seagate externals. Or other brand-name externals from the drive manufacturers. I don't want a drive that has to be reformatted if it is removed from its enclosure. Or can't function at all outside of the case in which it ships.
