Worst Apple product or accesory? - space-time - 05-06-2015 the previous thread made me look at some Apple accessories and found this one: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD592LL/A/apple-45w-magsafe-2-power-adapter-for-macbook-air Please scroll and read the reviews. wow... why does Apple make stuff like this? Re: Worst Apple product or accesory? - hal - 05-06-2015 Even given the fact that most people say nothing until they want to complain, this is some pretty bad results... ![]() Re: Worst Apple product or accesory? - mrlynn - 05-06-2015 hal wrote: That was in 2012. Did Apple go back to the previous L-shaped adapter? Did they recall the bad ones? /Mr Lynn Re: Worst Apple product or accesory? - space-time - 05-06-2015 as far as I know, the normal MagSafe was initially T (plastic) and then later L (metal). MBA uses MagSafe2, a T (metal) which is thinner and apparently very poorly received by consumers. I don't think Apple made/makes a MagSafe 2 L shaped. probably those snuglets would solve some of these complaints, but it is still a shame that a company has to fix Apple's desing flaws. I have purchased 2 MBA for my in laws and my parents, used it only for a week each and shipped it to them, so I don't have long term experience with these. Apparently they don't complain about this. I think they use it at the desk, or take the power cable off when they use it on the couch, I never heard them complaining about this coming off easily like in these reviews. I am somewhat surprised that Apple allowed all these bad reviews on their web site. Re: Worst Apple product or accesory? - OWC Jamie - 05-07-2015 The original T-shaped mag safe connector that came with my 2008 Macbook has just started to fail this month. I've never pulled it out by the cord like so many do with electrical cords. I have to buy one somewhere soon or invest in a new laptop. ( the battery isn't lasting as long as it used to, and I have never been happy with the hard drive I replaced, and the OS is stuck at 10.6 ) I never saw the connector as a design flaw but a design compromise. I doubt if Apple owners have had to replace broken logic boards or had to have the power jack repaired/replaced like so many with regular DC jacks do. I lost count of how many PDQ and Lombard (bronze keyboard) laptops I tore apart to repair or replace the power jack when I had my shop. What would have been nice would have been another identical jack on the brick end so just the cable could be replaced for $9.99. Or so. Probably ran some numbers and the phone support for dummies not capable of checking both ends being plugged in when their battery died cost too much. Re: Worst Apple product or accesory? - Lew Zealand - 05-07-2015 Mrs. Zealand has a MagSafe 2 MBP and I have yet to hear of complaints about the adapters or connector. QC issues? Re: Worst Apple product or accesory? - N-OS X-tasy! - 05-07-2015 Hockey-puck mouse. If we start discussing old products, I am sure there are much, much worse products out there. The question is what would be considered fundamentally flawed. Maybe the crappy blue minikeyboards that came with the hockeypuck mouse...
