A question about selling iOS software - space-time - 05-06-2015

Suppose someone develops an iOS App, the only legal way to sell that App is on iOS App store, right? Apple would take 30% of the revenue as far as I understand. There is no other legal way for that developer to sell their app, is it?

Imagine that Microsoft would force all vendors to distribute windows software through a Microsoft portal and take a 30% cut, that would not fly, would it? how come Apple gets away with it?

space...
Think about your expenses and the target audience. A 30% for what Apple provides... might not seem like a lot.

Admittedly for every Rovio there are a gazillion failures.

Depends... For jailbreakers there are a few app stores, but they're a tiny market.

There's also the oldie-but-goody web app.
