How do I change some new Firefox behavior back to the way it was? - hal - 05-07-2015 It used to be that when I dragged selected text from a webpage and drop it in the search box, FF would immediately fetch the search. But since v36 or 37 (can't remember which), text dropped in the search box no longer initiates the search, I must first click on the little magnifying glass icon to get it going. I stared at 'about:config' for a good long time, but didn't see anything obviously associated with this behavior and was afraid that I might void my warranty :-) anyone know how to manipulate about:config to get what I'm wanting? Re: How do I change some new Firefox behavior back to the way it was? - Black - 05-07-2015 Any chance you had an add-on before that gave this behavior and it got left behind by a FF update? Re: How do I change some new Firefox behavior back to the way it was? - hal - 05-08-2015 I remember now - it showed up with v36. I waited past one 0.01 update (no change) and then the v37 update and the behavior was still there. This is something that I do 100x a day, so I noticed right away after the update that the old behavior was gone. Not a bad idea to check the add-ons, but instead, I went to my laptop (which is running 10.10, the other machine I'm talking about is running 10.9.5). The laptop was running v32 and the old behavior was there. I updated to v37 and the new beahvior had arrived. I restarted FF in safe mode (add-ons disabled) and the new behavior persists. Could be an alternate technique if you cannot restore your favorite... =wr= Re: How do I change some new Firefox behavior back to the way it was? - DewGuy - 05-08-2015 I don't know about the search box behavior, but if you drag the selected text to the tab bar (creating a new tab) it will automatically do a search.
