Haven't been able to get all my yard work done due to weather. The humming bird is getting rained on and the temps have been in the upper 60's. Middle of June? Texas has caught up with its drought and has surpassed it to the flooding stage and now more is predicted with the coming of what will be Tropical Depression or Storm Bill. And some rain in CA where it's needed, in June! Some flash flooding NW of LA.
65ยบ right now and 100% humidity. I was thinking of hitting the heat once just to get the clamminess out of the house. But, in my basement office, I have a small space heater going which is doing the trick for the moment.
Had to mow a wet lawn yesterday. It was already too tall but with rain more on the way I had no choice or the neighbors would be on my case! There will be no more yard work today..

Locally we are 4 to 5 inches below normal on rain. Western Massachusetts has a deficit too. Lawns are brown. Caterpillars have stripped the trees even worse than last year so there isn't much shade. If you walk in the woods it sounds like it's raining, but it is caterpillar poop, not rain.

We're hovering at drought watch status in PA. We're getting rain, but on average it's been less than it should be since at least last fall.

The video I saw on the news was some flash flooding over roads in the Lockwood Valley area. I know; a drop in the bucket but...
I still believe a system of reservoirs and pipelines to get water to places that need it is feasible. I also think that many people in CA who moved from back east and want to have a lawn like mine need to understand that a lot of CA is desert. Anyone think there may be required rationing soon out there?

We had the water come up right to the house two weeks ago, it covered the pool, entire backyard and came up up the back stairs. I just finished the cleanup and fished out a turtle out of the pool. Stepping outside at night, the croaking cacophony of post flood frog crop is deafening. I have never seen so many, so loud, for which I am quite grateful. They took care of the mosquito infestation we all expected.
Amazingly there is almost none.....

A common misperception.
Part of California is a desert.
I live in Sacramento. We have a Koppen classification of Csa. San Francisco's climate is Csb. Mediterranean. There are other climates as well...

We have gotten rain, but not in a useful manner. These passing heavy downpours aren't helping much. Friday night we saw the lightning coming furiously, but the weather services said it would go mainly to our north, hugging the VT border. Got a little closer in actuality, and for safety, we were told to take cover at our Relay for Life Event. Told to get out of the tents, and go to cars, or in one of the fairground buildings.
Rained hard, windy, gone in a couple hours, Sat afternoon, all was dry for packup.

Our weather has been wonderful.
