Selling a car, want to get a steering wheel cover. Any recommendations? - clay - 06-15-2015

Want to pick up a cover of some sort, original steering wheel has lost paint/surface on original leather. Would like to put something on that looks much better. Came across these...any opinions?

Any better options out there? Any experience with this particular item?

Wheelskins are excellent. They are a lot of work to put on though.

Depending on the car, look for a wreck at the junkyard and replace the steering wheel.

Airbag.

Wheelskins are great -- think there are other brands? Put one like on my 69 Nova back in the mid 80s. Took a long time to get on. But awesome when done.

Measure your steering wheel. I know they make 16" and 15" covers. Perhaps more sizes, so make sure you get the right one.

yeah, you input your make/model/year of car and they assign the correct size for you. One question...do I first need to remove my existing factory cover, or just put this on over it?

Airbags have nothing to do with it. On almost every single car the Airbag is a separate module that bolts into the steering wheel. You remove the airbag, remove the wheel put the new wheel on and attach your old airbag to the new wheel.

On some cars at least, swapping the airbag is not a trivial process. And if you sell the car as a private party and don't do it right, you could be held liable.
