I live in New York most of the year, but I spend my summers in Oregon. Nothing in my personal or professional life obliges me to do so. Clearly, I am not oblivious to the risks. Given all that, and given the scenario I outlined in this article, why do I still choose to spend time here?

NY did a piece on how the Pacific Northwest was actually more subject to falling into the Pacific than was California after the big one
Some denizens of the Great Northwest took umbrage. They wanted a better ending.

I did read the linked article, where's the redemption? She basically same thing again, no? Are the numbers in dispute? Was the original article meant to scare people out of the area or simply inform? It's not that I don't understand the article, I don't understand this subject line.
