Wifi Sense: Windoze 10's Microsoft is freaking STUPID feature.... - cbelt3 - 07-30-2015 http://money.cnn.com/2015/07/30/technology/windows10-wifi-sense/index.html "Microsoft enables Wi-Fi Sense by default on Windows 10, but it doesn't share your networks by default. You have to actively choose to share your Wi-Fi network by clicking a box that says "Share network with my contacts" when logging in. When you share your network, all of your Facebook (FB, Tech30) friends as well as your Skype and Outlook.com contacts will be able to automatically log onto your Wi-Fi network when their Windows 10 PCs are in range. With Wi-Fi Sense, they don't need to enter a password to log on (if they have a Mac, iPhone or Android device, you'll still have to give up your password). " Ho... leee... ![]() Re: Wifi Sense: Windoze 10's Microsoft is freaking STUPID feature.... - jdc - 07-30-2015 You are only sharing with your "friends". Nothing bad has ever come from sharing things with your friends. FWIW, I read about this yesteday, I think it could be a good thing. I like how you dont have to give anyone your actual password. but maybe if there was a way to have it only share with people you choose to share it with? Re: Wifi Sense: Windoze 10's Microsoft is freaking STUPID feature.... - Filliam H. Muffman - 07-30-2015 Yeah, there are a few facepalms over some new "features" in W10. I almost installed it back in Feb., but decided to wait the obligatory month after the GM was released. Re: Wifi Sense: Windoze 10's Microsoft is freaking STUPID feature.... - silvarios - 07-30-2015 I have business contacts, friends, family, and some random people on Craigslist, so that seems like a disaster. However, here's another take, http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/07/wi-fi-sense-in-windows-10-yes-it-shares-your-passkeys-no-you-shouldnt-be-scared/ Re: Wifi Sense: Windoze 10's Microsoft is freaking STUPID feature.... - Article Accelerator - 07-30-2015 jdc wrote: Once your friends have it, I think their friends may have it too. By the way, are all the entries in your Contacts your friends? Re: Wifi Sense: Windoze 10's Microsoft is freaking STUPID feature.... - cbelt3 - 07-30-2015 Yep... exactly why people freaked out over 'sharing' FB and Linkedin and such with their contacts. Don't DO it. Someone comes IN my house I *might* tell them my wifi password. I might not. It's basic goldarned security 101. The corporate world should be having a HUGE conniption about this. You want the wifi password her at work ? It's easier to get access to the White House. Re: Wifi Sense: Windoze 10's Microsoft is freaking STUPID feature.... - kap - 07-30-2015 Johnny Lately to this post. Just upgraded from Windows 8.1 Pro to 10 Pro. Has this silly Wifi password sharing feature been "fixed' yet?
