It's had to tell a lot of the fakes without having them in hand... but one thing I did notice on this listing, the photo shows cables that are tied using a white twisty tie.... Apple bands these with a clear plastic piece as they have for a very long time. It is the merchant's responsibility (legal and otherwise) to ensure what they have is legit. They either don't know or do not care. It is amazing how many places put knockoffs out there... and I am sure some do so without knowing. Yes! Amazon in particular has a large number of knock-off counterfeit products. They are slow loathe to do much about it. Occasionally, I'll see a note that they suspended shipping a product, making a vague reference to a possible problem, but being careful not to say counterfeit. They're far more careful to consider liability for accusing someone of being a crook than they are of selling a crook's merchandise. do these cables have a serial number? IF there is one, I doubt it's one we could see. It would be interesting if Apple provided on in the authentication chip, but that just doesn't seem likely to me. Larry said "units" so I'm guessing he was referring to things like the AC adapters that are so commonly and frequently counterfeited.
