Baby M - Two week update - Robert M - 09-21-2015 Hi everyone, Sorry for taking so long to send an update. It’s been just over two weeks since I brought my wife and daughter home from the hospital and all I can say is that it’s been a whirlwind! My wife is slowly but surely healing from the birth and my daughter, well, she’s a miracle! We’ve adapted to having a newborn in the house between bonding with her, changing diapers, making bottles, watching her move in circles in her bassinet and pack and play, you name it. We’re even getting accustomed to waking up at horribly awful hours to feed, change and just hold her! It’s a good thing since I hear sleep deprivation is the norm when it comes to having a baby. Fortunately, my daughter isn’t much of a crier, at least not yet. Baby M is incredibly alert and absorbing everything in her environment. We’re talking watching me tear through the morning paper on my ipad and listening to me read aloud the op-ed and Funnies sections. It doesn’t matter that she can’t understand anything I’m saying. I just want her to hear my voice and the words! One thing my wife and I want to do for Baby M is instill in her a love of listening and reading. I figure we may as well start now! We’ve brought Baby M to the pediatrician three times and the doctor is very pleased with her progress! At first she had a little bit of jaundice but we took care of that very quickly. The pediatrician suggested sitting with her by a window to get lots of natural sunlight. Fortunately, our nursery has two large windows that get blasted by the sun from morning to mid-day. Baby M and I took advantage of it to practice the fine art of sunbathing. Apparently, it worked! The pediatrician said my daughter looked so good that it wasn’t necessary to test her bilirubin again! The wife and I were concerned about Baby M's weight but that proved to be a non-issue as well. She gained 11 ounces in a single week. The doctor was ecstatic! Yahoo! ‘course, while things may seem easy now, I know it’s just the beginning. Baby M is still just a wee baby. My operations manager said I’m in for a _rude_ awakening when she gets older and can get about the house on four legs and decides everything she encounters needs touching and tasting. And, then she’ll learn how to walk and run! I’m already working on my 50 yard dash and snatch! ![]() Robert Re: Baby M - Two week update - Pam - 09-21-2015 Enjoy the ride! These days will seem both very long in real-time, and then a whirlwind in retrospect. Enjoy em! Re: Baby M - Two week update - jesse - 09-21-2015 Treasure these times...it goes by much too quickly ![]() Re: Baby M - Two week update - Rick-o - 09-21-2015 Thanks for the update. I've been wondering how you guys are doing with the new baby. Re: Baby M - Two week update - cbelt3 - 09-21-2015 Awesome ! I still smile when I remember my eldest (now 27) lying under the 'bili-light' for her Jaundice (she was a month early), wearing little sunglasses. We called her our "beach baby". Her little teddy bear "Co-Co" had his own sunglasses too.... so cute ! |
