F/U on ky car start delay - space-time - 01-27-2016

http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1,1956113

I did some more testing, and most of the time the car starts just fine, or if there is a delay (it only happened two times since Friday), it seems that the car starts when I am about to give up and release the clutch pedal. There is a switch (interlock?) so car won't start unless you press the clutch. At this time more testing is required, but so far it seems like that switch does not make contact if I press the clutch all the way down, but if I let it go up, just a millimeter or two, the car starts. I am starting to suspect a bad clutch switch. I am not sure if this is easier or more difficult to fix than a bad starter.

Check for bunched up floor mats.

The Fastest way to fix that is cut the wires. Then wire around the switch.

Did you get the battery tested?

That will turn the car into a hybrid, you can "drive" it using the starter motor when the engine doesn't start.

I think he means bypassing the clutch lockout switch.

Simple stuff first.

not yet, we had a huge snow storm, I had to work, and wife had school today, really no time to do any of this since last Friday.

I hate those clutch/starter interlocks.

My cars don't have them and I have used "electric mode" a time or two to get a stalled car off the road.

If you wait awhile and try your starting drill again, this time maneuvering the clutch right away, and it starts, you probably found your suspect.

I blame it on the jelly.
