GPS question - bazookaman - 01-29-2016 So my wife's Garmin has a bunch of locations stored in it. I just got one for myself and copied her GPX file to mine. So it matches. Then I got to thinking. There are probably quite a few defunct addresses or incorrectly named destinations or uncategorized destinations etc etc. So I was wondering if it is possible to edit the GPX file. THEN copy it back to our Garmins and have a nice fresh list of destinations all nice and neat. Re: GPS question - OWC Jamie - 01-29-2016 The Garmin is too much button pushing ? There used to be many GPX and NMEA editors that could edit the data in the data files. But at the time you needed a PC with a RS232 data port. There has to be oft ware out there now to edit all these walking/running/hiking/bicycling APPs tracks. I haven't kept up. Re: GPS question - bazookaman - 01-29-2016 billb wrote: Yes. Have you ever used a Garmin? And if so, are you telling me you would rather adjust your list of 100's of favorites via a 5 inch touch screen vs a keyboard on a larger monitor? The last time I looked it was super confusing and didn't look like it would do what I wanted. Re: GPS question - bobinmurphy - 01-29-2016 Garmin's POI Loader can load GPX or CSV POI files to your Garmin and it runs on the Mac. I believe you can download your POI files from the Garmin using Base Camp and that runs on the Mac too. Depending on the Garmin unit that you have you might be able to connect it to the Mac via USB and just copy the POI file onto your Mac as well. I've done that with a couple of the Garmins I have. |
