Is it just me, or is iTunes 12's Playlists a clusterf*ck? - Bimwad - 03-09-2016 I know iTunes 12 is a mess, but for the life of me, trying to figure out how to edit a fricken playlist is much more work than it needs to be, or was before. I also opened up the Music app on my iPad to verify some things, and the Music trial teaser screen popped up again! FFS, Apple, you didn't rebuild your reputation with garbage software like this. Re: Is it just me, or is iTunes 12's Playlists a clusterf*ck? - bazookaman - 03-09-2016 Ah yes. If only Apple cared about what their users wanted. Re: Is it just me, or is iTunes 12's Playlists a clusterf*ck? - sekker - 03-09-2016 Yes, it's terrible software. Perhaps the worst I can recall from Apple. Re: Is it just me, or is iTunes 12's Playlists a clusterf*ck? - davemchine - 03-09-2016 I use iTunes playlists extensively and often find them frustrating. i don't even bother showing my wife how they work as it is far too complicated to get the desired results. FYI, you can banish the IOS Apple Music crap for the most part. Google for the instructions or even search here. The new app is still crap but at least you don't have to look at that part anymore. Re: Is it just me, or is iTunes 12's Playlists a clusterf*ck? - Mike Johnson - 03-09-2016 I had to Google "how to play an album in iTunes." I edit frickin' playlists all the time in iTunes. Perhaps I could help… Re: Is it just me, or is iTunes 12's Playlists a clusterf*ck? - sekker - 03-09-2016 BTW - my go-to solution for home music is to use my daughter's Spotify account on my Amazon Echo... This used to be my home music collection via iTunes streamed from my home media center. By trying to force Apple Music on us, Apple has generated a product that is now terrible to play personal music and is far inferior to the competition like Spotify. In doing so, it made me realize how redundant the My Music view is, and unnecessary if Apple had just left the sidebar in place for the primary view. It's still possible to use the previous methods to add/delete from a playlist; it just has to be in Library view (which ironically is the closest thing to the older iTunes), and the playlists themselves put into the desired views. The new method with the Edit/Done buttons and cramped views? Who wants to use that? Of course, they have to be accompanied by some useless animations. The old, functional iTunes remains underneath the surface; one just has to coax it into the open, which to me is the real problem. Re: Is it just me, or is iTunes 12's Playlists a clusterf*ck? - bwicklander - 03-10-2016 playlists or not... iTunes is a heap of steaming ..... I agree. On the other hand, once you do, it seems to me the interaction is like it always was. I just go to Playlists view and then simply use drag-and-drop to edit playlists. ![]() |
