Apparently, the Chinese governement plans to end the practice, but who knew it was an actual thing?
Maybe I need to attend some Chinese funerals.. you know.. to learn some culture. Or something.

The point of inviting strippers, some of whom performed with snakes, was to attract large crowds to the deceased’s funeral – seen as a harbinger of good fortune in the afterlife. “It’s to give them face,” one villager explained. “Otherwise no one would come.

strippers with snakes!? even better!

The practice isn't a tradition to have strippers at funerals, but rather a general tradition to send off the deceased with something they might like in the afterlife (faux cars, cash, candy, fruit, etc.). (or so I understand from my chinese friends).

I think you need to have several rehearsal performances so you can pick the best one(s) before you go.
