Black car. Should I get one? - Dennis S - 03-21-2016 I am looking for a used Avalon and lots of them are black. They are rare down here anyway and ruling out black really makes it hard to find one. I've heard lots of people say don't ever get a black car. My driveway is gravel. Should I forget about a black one? Also, we can throw white into the mix. Lots of white Avalons I see don't look good but some are just OK. Re: Black car. Should I get one? - DavidS - 03-21-2016 If you get one, you can work for Uber. Re: Black car. Should I get one? - Robert M - 03-21-2016 Dennis, My wife has a black Yaris. Every issue described on this site affects her car: None of the issues are insurmountable nor would they stop me from getting a black car if it's exactly what I wanted in a vehicle. Robert Re: Black car. Should I get one? - RAMd®d - 03-21-2016 All of my cars, save my first, have been black (with black or charcoal interiors). It can be hot when left it the sun, but I accept the compromise. It shows dust and dirt very quickly, but I accept the compromise. The shape of the car determines my choice of color, once I decide on the car. I've seen Avalons in both black and white, and I much prefer it in white. To me, the lines just don't lend themselves to the color black. Re: Black car. Should I get one? - Speedy - 03-21-2016 People won't lay hands on your car in the summer sun! And you can fry an egg on it if need be!! Re: Black car. Should I get one? - OWC Jamie - 03-21-2016 go for broke ![]() Re: Black car. Should I get one? - vision63 - 03-21-2016 How used are you considering? I think this latest platform (4th gen) goes back to 2012. It looks good in black to me. There has to be some charcoal grey options that look snazzy. This looks badazz. ![]() ![]() Re: Black car. Should I get one? - 3d - 03-21-2016 As long as you get the black out rims as well! Re: Black car. Should I get one? - jdc - 03-21-2016 Done with any dark color ever again. had several black cars, then silver and white, way better. Current car is a dark green blue, regret it. Not a big car washer so it just looks dirty all the time. Fine if you live in the North all winter, but I dont. Re: Black car. Should I get one? - rz - 03-21-2016 I had a black Pathfinder for about 15 years. I didn't give a rat's patoot about whether or not it showed dust or dirt. I probably ran it through a car wash maybe half a dozen times in those 15 years. Living in Florida, you'd think it was too hot to drive in the summer. It wasn't. My wife's red Suburban (with much darker tinted windows to boot) was noticeably hotter in the summer. I chose it because it had the features I wanted for a price that worked for me. When I bought my Odyssey this year, I had a choice of two colors: red or dark blue. I chose dark blue, but would have taken it in red if that's all they had. Or black. Or white. Honestly, I didn't care. It had the features I wanted and I got it at a good price. |
