FoodSaver doesn't fully compete the cycle. What to check? - deckeda - 03-22-2016

Model V300, a manual one. $7 thrift store gamble. I spent more on a (FoodSaver brand) roll.

Seals fine.

After futzing with getting the bag lip in the channel enough (or not too much, or something) I got it to vacuum out the air and a little liquid. But it never completes, so doesn't seal at the end. I held it way longer than necessary, like 2 minutes while it slowly worked and the motor changed sounds ... gave up and quickly sealed it but it's not a perfect vacuum.

Both felt pads are clean, rubber seal is fine.

seems contradictory

if it is not sucking air out or taking far too long, try cutting a quarter inch or so of bag off.

will do

Mine does that if I don't have the ends of the cut bag stuck into the hole along the sealer. I readjust and it works fine.

My second hand one has always done that....
I just let it suck the air out until the motor changes sound, give it a few seconds more, then hit the "instant seal" button to seal it.
Works fine.
Probably the reason the sealer was $10 at a garage sale.

Wish I had an instant seal button on this model. Tried switching over to "seal only" but had no effect until I released the top part, and some air.
