Do you have any advice for me in selling some high end film photo gear on ebay (or maybe elsewhere)? - hal - 04-29-2016 Apparently there is still a strong market for this stuff. A friend has asked me to sell the stuff for him - craigslist postings in a small town hasn't yielded any results except lots of people wanting him to ship it - not gonna happen. Here's the stuff: G2 Body -excellent minus condition 45MM Zeiss Sonar - excellent condition (I barely used it) 90MM Zeiss Sonar - excellent condition ( I never used it) 21MM Zeiss Sonar - excellent minus condition (my primary lens) TLA Flash - excellent condition 21mm Finder - excellent minus condition 45MM & 21MM lenses have Contax uv filters Manuals for G2 and TLA Flash I believe I have most of the original boxes The 21mm is particularly rare and sought. I know very little about this stuff except for my research on ebay pricing. Re: Do you have any advice for me in selling some high end film photo gear on ebay (or maybe elsewhere)? - C(-)ris - 04-29-2016 Why not ship it? Have the buyer send a USPS money order and cash it at the post office. Check with the PO on their policies first though. Some POs don't keep enough money in the till to cash large money orders. Once the cash is in hand then mail it off. (of course I always was able to get a CL buyer, so never went with KEH) Re: Do you have any advice for me in selling some high end film photo gear on ebay (or maybe elsewhere)? - hal - 04-29-2016 C(-)ris wrote: Don't know - I'm not making the decision. He can purchase REALLY good gear at dirt cheap prices off of eBay because everyone else is dumping film and going digital. Re: Do you have any advice for me in selling some high end film photo gear on ebay (or maybe elsewhere)? - cbelt3 - 04-29-2016 Cl + ship + Money Order == Fraud. CL even advises in LARGE LETTERS that this is the case. Don't do it. FleaBay or Amazon or some other protected solution is preferred. Yes, you'll pay for the privilege. Re: Do you have any advice for me in selling some high end film photo gear on ebay (or maybe elsewhere)? - mattkime - 04-29-2016 looks like some great gear! deserves to be used. Re: Do you have any advice for me in selling some high end film photo gear on ebay (or maybe elsewhere)? - Gareth - 04-29-2016 http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/board/10 is a photographer to photographer buy/sell forum, but as a seller you pay a fixed fee for a length of time to list, but you set the payment terms and can screen the buyers. I haven't sold here, just made a few purchases. But as a new seller, it may be harder to sell. Also, although it might be tempting to accept PayPal Gift (and make the buyer pay the credit card fee), I think it's better to use regular PayPal and build the fee into the price. PayPal Gift isn't guaranteed and people still get chargebacks and there's no recourse. At least PayPal will investigate for a regular payment. Re: Do you have any advice for me in selling some high end film photo gear on ebay (or maybe elsewhere)? - freeradical - 04-30-2016 I have two Contax G2 bodies and all of the lenses for them except the zoom. I have no plans on parting with them. The lenses are really not particularly expensive (when I bought them a few years ago) except for the 21mm lens. The 90mm lens can be had for practically a song. Those lenses are favorably compared with Leica's offerings. I shoot them wide open... |
