The Ryan/Trump combo worried me a bit - hal - 06-03-2016 If they play it right, they might be able to have their cake and eat it too. Trump has an absolute lock on the wacko right and NOTHING will loosen the grip on that bunch. Up steps Ryan and his 'bold plan' for congress under a Trump presidency. Ryan may remind the center right (carefully) that nothing becomes law until the congress approves. So Trump can bluster all he wants, but nothing is gonna get done unless WE (congressional leadership) are on board. There would have to be a lot of nuance. The frothing maniacs won't care, they'll just keep chanting, "TRUMP! TRUMP! TRUMP!" They are all in. But Ryan may be able to persuade the center right to not worry - we'll have control in Congress and with a Repub pres, out agenda can get passed. And then end any argument with the real dream of having a repub select the next 3-4 justices and ENSURE an easy right wing agenda for a generation. Re: The Ryan/Trump combo worries me a bit - deckeda - 06-03-2016 Up until the endorsement, Trumpsters wanted Ryan put to sleep unless he did it. They don't really care what he does or doesn't do. Their Supreme Leader will fix it all, by himself. Re: The Ryan/Trump combo worried me a bit - Dennis S - 06-03-2016 The hard-right House will make a wish list of every insane thing they ever wanted and Trump will sign off on it. That's how simple and how scary it is. Re: The Ryan/Trump combo worried me a bit - Acer - 06-03-2016 I'm not as worried about Turmp and the legislature as some. I don't think he's going to be the rubber stamp the Repubs assume; his ego won't allow it. There will be some outlandish initiative of his that Congress can't stomach. Re: The Ryan/Trump combo worried me a bit - RgrF - 06-04-2016 There will never be a Trump Presidency! - Just keep repeating this to yourself over and over and over. Re: The Ryan/Trump combo worries me a bit - samintx - 06-04-2016 Absolutely. They don't care who gives a blessing or no….their leader is above all and will get everything he wants one way or the other. Re: The Ryan/Trump combo worried me a bit - Numo - 06-04-2016 Ryan joins the long list of Republicans who have sold their souls to save their necks. This exposes the lie of "principled integrity" that the party has touted for years. Are there any Repubs who haven't rolled over left? |
