Should Mike Pence quit the campaign? - SteveG - 08-13-2016

Christian values include slander, lies and death threats?

I've read way too much about what an upright guy Mike Pence is. So, if he is such a paragon of virtue ("I'm a Christian, a conservative, and a Republican — in that order"), then how can long will he tolerate the moral stench radiating from Donald Trump.

Here's the question: Should Mike Pence resign from the campaign based on his supposed values?

For a bonus: How come he didn't include "An American" in his list of stellar qualities?

The cons outweigh the pros at this point. He probably sees his role as the "good guy" countering Trump's "bad boy."

As for the values thing, did you really believe that in the first place?

He is first and foremost a politician. The values facade is just the persona he uses to get what he wants. The basic difference between a politician and a professional wrestler is steroid intake.

I think from Pence's perspective, he's doing what he can to "save" the Republican Party. His job is to try to civilize Trump. Ironically, I'd take a Trump presidency over a Pence one.

I don't think he can resign at this point but his future prospects I don't deem too high after associations with Trump.

Gov. Pence will hang with Mr. Trump, hoping he can slide into the top spot if Mr. Trump ends his candidacy. At this point it is still a very viable strategy.

Me too. Add Cruz and Rubio to that list. I'm with the legions of Trump supporters who silently believe Trump could be controlled, or shown the nearest shiny thing, and send him to bed early, satiated. But career guys like Pence/Cruz et all have the knowledge to actually dismantle more of America.

This willingness to gamble with the future of our nation by electing Trump absolutely floors me. How well has the Republican Party controlled Trump so far? Talk about delusional thinking!

It's not a gamble if you know how a person will act, and I don't think Trump is unpredictable, just malleable. "Wanting" a loonie like Pence or Cruz (compared to Trump) is truly dangerous. Trump, by contrast, can't do half of what he says he'd do.

If Dumbf would take us back to the 50's to be "great again", Penice would take us back even further.
