Michigan-Farm country - Kraniac - 10-15-2016 I've been working in this unnamed Michigan small town all summer.. All the guys carry guns..it's a game i now play to look for the gun..they are everywhere...the tell tale bump. Lots of Trump signs..hillary signs too but not as many because I think folks are extremely leery of the Trump supporters here...almost scared of them..it could affect small town business dealings, social stuff, church, jut day to day getting along..it's a weird thing because it's a small town with a mix of libs and cons...mostly conservatives but a definite mix. In the last week since the tapes started coming out..blah blah..The Trump signs have exploded..banners tied to porches..VERY noticeable increase in Trump sign numbers.. It's freaky how deeply the heels are dug in..I don't feel safe in this town..lol..I don't like folks carrying guns and I don't like Trump and his band of followers..they scare the &%^$# out of me..so ready to get IN your face and start barking this slogan driven crap..and here..they're armed. I can only assume that this same thing plays out in rural towns everywhere..this is my experience so i can only speculate That said, Im not a huge Hillary fan either..BUT Just some observations from this little petri dish where I find myself Re: Michigan-Farm country - mstudio - 10-15-2016 I live in a small town in Wisconsin. Don't see any guns in town except during hunting season. We traditionally have the largest voter turnout in our county, or close to it. Not many Hillary signs but many local and State signs, mostly Dem. One Republican guy for State Senate is making a point of telling everyone he is independent and does not necessarily support the Walker agenda. That being said, there is one guy that always puts up huge signs, this time for Trump (no surprise to those that know him). He took it down after he got a lot of "Dude, really?" comments. He did leave a large poster up with a diatribe about how Trump and Pence are the only people that can save the world...believe me. He could say, "Hey brothers and sisters, I know we have differing viewpoints, but there's no avoiding the fact that we still have to share this planet so we might as well get to know one another. I can share my concerns and you can share yours and while we may not agree, perhaps we'll become more enlightened. I'll bring the potato salad." Re: Michigan-Farm country - Octave Doctor - 10-15-2016 Trump and Pence are the only people that can save the world...believe me. And if they don't win, will try to burn it down. My car broke down some miles here over the summer and i called triple A..knew the driver who picked from a previous pick up a few years back..super nice dude, tattooed, shaved head..great, upbeat disposition, knows most folks in the area..carries a handgun..which might be expected (only in this day and age i guess given his profession-he's a wrecker..not a parking lot picker of illegally parked cars)..Anyhow, as we were driving I noticed his gun and mentioned that i see tons of guys carrying...He told me a story of getting pulled over by a cop one day (in his truck..a very nice truck with a flatbed tow rig)..immediately told the cop he was legally carrying..the cop took his license and registration etc and started walking back to the squad...suddenly turned around with his gun drawn in the attack position and started screaming at the top of his lungs.."Show me your hands!!! Show me your hands!!! Do Not move!!!..on and on..got the guy out of the car and put him on the ground...searched him took his gun..on and on. He said the cops in the area are in total police state mode because of all the guns on folks..it's such a crazy combination, really..has the cops freaking out..nobody knows who's who in some sense. There are more than a few men who feel impotent in today's job market due to no fault of their own, and that is a big blow to the male ego. Seems like I remember someone saying this was going to happen. Re: Michigan-Farm country - Lemon Drop - 10-15-2016 There's an editorial in the WSJ today which posits that Hillary Clinton has "emasculated" American men. Although he is morally reprehensible and it's a tragedy to have to vote for such scum, the only patriotic thing a red-blooded guy can do is vote Trump.
