After he loses and disappears, will his supporters come gunning for Trump? - SteveG - 10-18-2016 A friend of mine brought up this thought the other day. When Trump loses the election and can't wring any more ego stroking out of it, he will probably just disappear from public view. His supporters think he will still be the leader of their Great White Revolution America Movement, but without a buck to be gained from it, there'll be "No More Donald". So what will they do? Assuming that most of them will be incredibly angry, disillusioned, frustrated and heavily armed, I would suggest to Trump he increases his security detail bigly. Re: After he loses and disappears, will his supporters come gunning for Trump? - cbelt3 - 10-18-2016 Think of the "He's the chosen one" scene from Life of Brian. They will find one or more other Messiahs to follow. I dislike the term, but in this case I feel that Trumpians are definitely "Sheeple". Who have been herded by a variety of wolves. Re: After he loses and disappears, will his supporters come gunning for Trump? - SteveG - 10-18-2016 Trump will quit them in a flash. ![]() They look volatile to me. When Trump abandons them and they've had a couple of months and lot of beers to think it over.... He will have a cable subscription service and multiply his followers by 10-15.00 per subscription and you have big bucks. He is just getting started. The followers won't come after Trump…they will come after you and me! What he would do is find some Re: After he loses and disappears, will his supporters come gunning for Trump? - $tevie - 10-18-2016 A different view: But will Trump really cease to matter in November? After all, no human being loves the spotlight more, and he’s chased after media attention since he was a young man. Being the nominee of a major party is a dream job for him, because it means people will hang on his every word. Even if he loses badly in November, Trump will likely cling to his status as the strangest “party elder” ever—and convert it into new, attention-grabbing and lucrative projects. He has indicated, for one thing, that he wants to monetize his ability to generate attention with his controversial views by creating Trump TV (whatever the election results). Don’t scoff: Sarah Palin was number two on a losing ticket in 2008 and embarrassed herself spectacularly in the process, but she still commanded millions of followers when the election was over—enough, in fact, that she became a precursor to Trump in her merger of politics and reality shows, as well as one of his key surrogates. Donald Trump will not go gentle into that good night. Nor will he curse the dying of the light. Instead he’ll keep pursuing the klieg lights of the media circus, and through his televised antics continue to dominate the political conversation on the Republican side. He’ll be helped by his unusually loyal and rabid fan base. As Trump rightly said, even shooting someone in broad daylight on 5th Avenue wouldn’t warn them away. In order to maintain that fan base, Trump is, based on past precedent, likely to nurture a stabbed-in-the-back myth against the Republican and media “elites” if he loses. https://newrepublic.com/article/134836/sorry-conservatives-trump-wont-just-disappear-november Re: After he loses and disappears, will his supporters come gunning for Trump? - hal - 10-18-2016 This makes a lot of sense. This way he can have all of the adulation he desires without all of the strings attached that drag him down. $tevie wrote: Re: After he loses and disappears, will his supporters come gunning for Trump? - pdq - 10-18-2016 Steve G. wrote: ![]() OH PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE Re: After he loses and disappears, will his supporters come gunning for Trump? - gabester - 10-18-2016 hal wrote: And yet with the amount of disgruntlement in that fan base, given the Donald's tendency to piss people off, a lot of people are saying it seems likely that one of the loyal followers indicated above is likely, sooner than later, to try to remunerate a broken promise. It would be a shame, but a lot of people are saying they wouldn't be surprised. |
