I'm not defending McCain; I think his remarks were pretty much indefensible.
But the reporter was being a real jerk and trying to create a spectacle holding up the elevator.

I'm sure this is not the first time McCain has encountered someone from the press.
I believe the technical term for his actions is "Fleeing".
