Though I hate the very thought, it is the only option for my samsung a930 with Verizon.
Any affordable suggestions for a converter?

I've done it with Quicktime. I have Quicktime Pro. Not sure about the free version.

The free version doesn't allow you to convert (and save) anything, so QT Pro is probably the best answer.
