Picture of my two drives' connections - tuqqer - 10-01-2006 I'm trying to determine if I can swap the drive inside my backup Fantom hard drive with a larger hard drive, or is the outer case just not compatible with any bare hard drive. Here's a pic of what I have: ![]() Obviously the original HD (on the left) has different connectors than the HD I pulled from my G5 (I'm getting larger GB drives for the G5). Is there a name to a hard drive with those Fantom connectors, that I can buy, or do I just ebay the Fantom with its original 160Gb drive? Re: Picture of my two drives' connections - microchip13 - 10-01-2006 The G5 uses SATA, the Fantom drive is IDE. Any IDE or PATA(As it's also called) can be used with the fantom drive. Whether the chipset supports large drives(Some limit, I think 320 Gigs) might be a different story. Re: Picture of my two drives' connections - BigGuynRusty - 10-01-2006 Fantom = PATA HD G5 Tower = SATA HD BGnR Re: Picture of my two drives' connections - tuqqer - 10-01-2006 Got it. Thanks. Re: Picture of my two drives' connections - incognegro - 10-02-2006 would an adapter like this allow the SATA to work with the FW case? http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=A-SATA2IDE-20330&cpc=SCH |
